The Spit of Nizhny Novgorod is located at the confluence of the Oka and Volga rivers. It’s one of the main natural landmarks of the city. The concept for it development aims to merge history with modernity. This integration is reflected across all the levels: planning, functional, architectural, and engineering. The concept also includes the development of a stadium built for the World Cup. The site plan integrates three zones: the stadium area, a green buffer zone with an axis of water cascades, and the development zone. The development zone reconstructs a segment of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair and integrates it with historically significant remaining structures. The water cascade continues the tradition of the unique hydraulic structures of the fair, particularly the Betancourt Canal. The cascade features a series of pools arranged on multiple terraces. Water circulation is powered by solar panels and a rotating turbine at elevation changes, reducing potential costs by up to 50%.
The stadium will operate under the "Legacy" mode, focusing on a unified sports activity area. It will include a trampoline center, skatepark, snow park, parkour and panda parks, a ski simulator, tennis courts, basketball courts, a mini-football field, and a water park.
